TIGARD, OREGON
Tigard is a city in the middle of its own reinvention and it's worth paying attention to. Long overlooked in favor of its more celebrated neighbors, Tigard has been quietly investing in itself with a downtown revitalization effort, an expanding trail system, and a growing dining and retail scene that is beginning to reflect the genuine diversity and energy of its community. For buyers who want exceptional value, strong connectivity, and a city with real momentum behind it, Tigard deserves a much closer look than it typically gets.
Tigard occupies a central position in the Portland metro, bordered by Beaverton to the north, Lake Oswego to the east, and Tualatin to the south — a location that puts virtually every major employment corridor in the metro within a reasonable commute. Nike, Intel, and the broader Sunset Corridor tech cluster are accessible to the north, while the growing Tualatin and Wilsonville employment base sits just to the south. The city is bisected by Highway 217 and sits along the I-5 corridor, giving it some of the best highway connectivity of any inner suburb in the metro. Tigard-Tualatin School District serves the community with a solid and improving range of programs, and the district's trajectory has been meaningfully positive in recent years. MAX light rail does not currently serve Tigard directly, though the Southwest Corridor planning process has been working toward expanded transit connectivity for years — worth monitoring if transit access is a priority in your search.
